If you are like most of us, you'll want to find links for your specific cancer. The following sites point to links for specific cancers. Cansearch has a long list -- just scroll to the middle of their page to find their links. All you have to do now is decide if you actually want to know all that information!

If you like to get a lot of e-mail, consider joining one of the specific mailing lists listed on the cansearch site.

The National Cancer Institute's site, CancerNet, provides a variety of information on cancer, for both patients and health professionals. You can access full-text information summaries from the PDQ database that describe the latest advances in cancer treatment, supportive care, screening and prevention. Texts can be retrieved either in a patient version (non-technical language) or a version for health professionals (technical).

PubMed provides free access to the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE database. Use it to search for published articles about a certain topic. Many of these articles are quite technical. Ask your doctor if the article you found is relevant to your case - if it is, ask him or her to explain what you don't understand.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer is an organization located in the Philadelphia, PA, area. Their web site features newsletters, up-coming conferences, and emerging issues of concern to women and families affected by breast cancer. The organization has a Young Survivors support and networking group for women under 40 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
