Psyhcosocial Support Heading
There are literally thousands of books about cancer out there, whether you want to read about cancer in general or a specific form of cancer; a text with lots of words in Latin or something a bit lighter. This list is evolving - right now it includes some of the classics and some of our favorites. Have you read a great book you want to add? Find a later edition of a book on our list? Let us know!

These are some we know of. To add your suggestions or ask questions about what others have suggested currently, come to our BULLETIN BOARD. You can look at what others have to say simply by registering. If you want to post or respond you have to log in after registering.

A Life in Balance: Scott Burton
Excerpt from "A Life in Balance".

Cancer Combat: Dean and Jessica King

Not Now... I'm Having a No Hair Day: Christine Clifford, Pfeifer-Hamilton, 1996
Subtitled "Humor & Healing for People with Cancer", this book takes a look at the funny and touching things we encounter when dealing with cancer. Written by a breast cancer survivor and illustrated with cartoons, it is a small and light read that is sure to make you smile. My personal favorite cartoon: she's on her way to a costume party - "I'm going as a person with hair!"

Dancing With the Diagnosis, Steps for Taking the Lead When Facing Cancer, Michelle Waters, Rising Star Press, 2003.

After a rare stroke to the brainstem, Bauby awoke to a body that had all but stopped working. Only his left eye functioned. Almost miraculously he was soon able to express himself by blinking to select letters in the alphabet, and composed this extraordinary book. It is wistful, mischievous, angry and witty - a witness to his determination to live as fully in his mind as he possibly could and a lasting testament to the joy of life, human imagination and incredible courage.
